Team Ragged Glory – Adventure Racing, Multi Sport, Friends

This one was on Nancy’s home turf.

We had a cool pre-dawn paddle on Fall Creek, paddling into Geist Reservoir.

I loved the bike section and the Fortville Park o-course

Bob is a great navigator.

2007 was the first year the IAR was held at Horizon Camp. The Fall Creek paddle was awesome, and the false controls on the o-course pond was a great idea.

I enjoyed the o-section at Ransburg. Steve did a great job navigating.

Nancy was strong. As always.

This was Nancy Gawrys first race as a Team Ragged Glory member. High temps in the day gave way to cool temps at night. We got caught with too few clothes after a cold paddle and bowed out in the dark.

After winning the 2004 Indianapolis Adventure Race, Bob Mueller and Julie Nor picked up Dave Tanner to sub in for Greg Arnold, who was helping run the Nationals.

It was a perfect combination of racers.
The team passed thirteen other teams in the last orienteering section for an amazing finish.

This race happened on an unusually warm April weekend in Owen and Putnam counties in west central Indiana.

The traverse over the Falls looked amazing. I was busy having chest pain and dropping out of the race.

Steve, Julie and Bob finished beautifully. I love the picture of Steve taking his pack off at the end of the race.

Another chapter of our favorite race. Yngvar, and Becca raced with Bob. Leslie, Steve and I raced together. The bike carry through the creek in Avon was tough.

Becca went down hard on the bike early in the race, but it didn’t phase her.

This was one hot race.

Pogue’s Run Tunnel was part of the race, as was the old Hilton U Brown Theater on the Butler University campus. The temperature was in the 90s and we all felt the heat.

Our first race ever with Julie Nor, who we met the day before the race. This is one of my all-time favorite events. I’ll never forget stopping and talking to /praying with David Yang after he suffered an ankle fracture on Nebo Ridge.

Riding into the dawn near a cemetary in Hickory Ridge was unforgettable.

Riding back to the Four Winds and seeing all of our families is one of my all-time favorite race memory.

The 2002 Wild Onion Indy was a tough 24 hour urban adventure race. The course took us from downtown to Broad Ripple on foot, back downtown in the canoes, a 20 mile scooter loop, a paddle to Southwestway, and a bike to Eagle Creek, and Town Run. That was the first half.

One of my favorite races.

Planet Adventure 2002 was the first 24 hour race Team Ragged Glory finished. It was our second shot at a long race. Randy Stokes took some amazing photos on Lake Monroe.
