2005 Planet Adventure 24 Hour Photos

This was Nancy Gawrys first race as a Team Ragged Glory member. High temps in the day gave way to cool temps at night. We got caught with too few clothes after a cold paddle and bowed out in the dark.

Love the pictures on top of the hill at the horse stable.

Also love the pictures on the Lost River.

PA05 is complete

2005-Planet-Adventure/Steve, Nancy and I (Doug) washed out in the cold after 18 hours of racing. But we had fun and stayed safe and the day was beautiful. More to come

Planet Adventure 2005 Update

Steve, Nancy and I (Doug) raced for a fun-packed, challenging, beautiful 14 hours in the 2005 edition of Planet Adventure before deciding to exit the race. A big temperature drop combined with not enough clothing and being caught wet on the paddle after dark got us all a little too cold to continue. But we had a ball. Look for a race recap soon. It was great to see all of our friends. It’s as much a family reunion as a race every year.

Planet Adventure 2005 Cometh

Steve, Nancy and I will be racing together for PA05. Julie and Bill are getting married, and Julie will be racing with Sasquatch for our home race, Planet Adventure. Dave was going to race with us, but the Bandidos needed him, so he’ll be back with them. Bob is sitting the year out. Leslie is having a baby in July or August.

A huge thanks go to Jerry Lyons, Dave Kauffman, Barb Geiler and everyone who made PA05 happen in spite of the circumstances. Team Ragged Glory appreciates you people for your selflessness and your time.

Night Hike was Fantastic!

A total of fifteen people showed up for our annual night hike on midnight, Feb 26. The weather was cool and dry and the 28 miles (thought it was 26) were a great tester. Congratulations to the new folks who made it out and tgot some exercise with us.

2005 Update – Night Hike Feb 26 – 27

TRG welcomes it’s newest member, Nancy Gawrys. Nancy has raced in a number of local events; many locals know her from her road racing and triathlon days. She’s tough and fun to be around. We’re glad to have her on the team.

We will hold our annual night hike starting about midnight Saturday, Feb 26 to about noon Sunday, Feb 27. The hike will be about 26 miles from the Morgan Monroe State Forest office to Yellowwood Lake. You are invited. If you’re interested, contact me at dtheis@msn.com. We will drop vehicles late Saturday evening at Yellowwood. Naturally, you are responsible for your own gear, foot, safety. Contact me if you’d like to come out and play with us.

TRG’s 2005 racing plans remain a bit unclear. Good news, however; Julie and Bill are engaged to be married and Leslie and Scott are expecting a baby. We will firm up the schedule soon and we look forward to seeing our friends and other racers on the course.

2004 USARA Nationals Race Recap by Julie Nor

November 5, 2004 marked a milestone for Team Ragged Glory. Somewhere in the mix of our passionate pursuit to have fun and give it our best shot, we qualified for the USARA National Championships! So we traveled to French Lick, Indiana with no expectations other than racing against the course and giving it every bit of energy we could muster. We had no idea of what the outcome was going to be.
