TRG excitedly awaits the latest installment of our favorite race: Planet Adventure. This year’s 24 hour format begins April 17 at 8am. We’ve been promised some hilly riding and a great traverse. We look forward to seeing all of our racing friends and meeting some new ones. May each team’s training prepare them for a safe and fun race.

Bob, Steve, I (Doug) and Beth Thomas, our newest TRG team member, successfully defended our six hour open title at Yellowwood Lake on April 3. Erick Lord did a great job organizing the event. The food at the end was fantastic. Thanks to Erick and ICO for a fun event. It was great to see all of our frends.

Owen Putnam 50/50 Race Recap

Steve Kincade talked Julie and I into trying a 50k race in the woods. Owen Putnam State Forest near Spencer, Indiana was the venue and a brown-green mud/manure mixture was what everyone was wearing. We ended up finishing in about nine hours after a 5 mile loop and two 13 mile loops. Our ultra running friend Tim East thinks the distance is more like 35 miles. Thanks to Norm for a great race and an even better prayer. – Doug

Rolling Thunder Race Recap

The race was divided into two sections. On Saturday after we picked up our registration and the race directors checked our gear we had to do a trail run. Ron, Jamey and myself made up the team, Chirosport (they are chiropractors). They tethered us together and we had to do approximately 4 miles navigating through old Indian trails (lots of rocks, roots, and leaves covering them). We did really well and by the end of the run had a 4-minute lead on all the other teams. This calmed my nerves a little bit. I was VERY nervous and didn’t sleep too well most of the week. They gave us our maps and went over the race.

Indianapolis Adventure Race Recap

Indy-based adventure race team Shackleton Endurance designed and hosted the fifth Indianapolis Adventure Race (formerly known as the Indy Sprint Adventure Race) at Indy’s Eagle Creek Park on September 13, 2003. Michael, Chris, Tom, Michelle and Dave put together a more challenging long course that kept us very wet. It was fantastic. Although rain had been forecast for most of the week, race day weather was sunny and mild with highs in the low 80s.

2003 Indianapolis Adventure Race Photos

Another chapter of our favorite race. Yngvar, and Becca raced with Bob. Leslie, Steve and I raced together. The bike carry through the creek in Avon was tough.

Becca went down hard on the bike early in the race, but it didn’t phase her.

Circle City Sprint Adventure Race Recap

GlobalX Racing held the inaugural Circle City Sprint Adventure Race on August 16, 2003. Racers awoke to sunshine, heat and humidity. The temperature would climb into the 90s with 90+% humidity. The word was we would be racing four to six hours and would be covering about 30 miles. We arrived at the University Park Transition Area in downtown Indy, set up our gear and headed to the stunningly beautiful World War Memorial auditorium for the pre-race meeting.

Circle City Sprint Adventure Race

GlobalX Racing did a great job on the first Circle City Sprint Adventure Race. Jerry, Joe and Greg picked up the race after Wild Onion organizers dropped the Indy Wild Scallion from their schedule. The race was hot, fast and fun. We congratulate the winners, Peoples Burn Foundation, who finished right at fiour hours. Urban Warrriors won the 4 person coed, and True North won the three person coed.

Team Ragged Glory raced in the four person coed division and finished at 4:29, fifth in our division and seventh of 32 teams overall. Bob and Julie have changed the level at which we race, increasing not only the speed of TRG but the fun as well. We’ll have a race recap up in a few days.
